  1. Hi. Your mandriva’s RPM repository doesn’t work with Smart Package Manager. What can I do for it works?

  2. Hello !

Actually my version of Amarok is 1.4.3 (on a Mandriva 2007.0)

    I try to install Amarok 1.4.4-3 :
    http://kevin.deldycke.com/static/repository/mandriva/2007.0/i586/amarok-1.4.4-3mdv2007.0.i586.rpm

I get the message (in french of course, I translate) :

amarok-1.4.4-3mdv2007.0.i586 can't be installed because libamarok0[==1:1.4.4] is not satisfied

So I try to install first libamarok :
    http://kevin.deldycke.com/static/repository/mandriva/2007.0/i586/libamarok0-1.4.4-3mdv2007.0.i586.rpm

And I get the message :

libamarok0-1.4.4-3mdv2007.0.i586 can't be installed because amarok[==1:1.4.4-3mdv2007.0] is not satisfied

    Is it a loop ?

    Help !

    Thanks !
    Jacques

  3. To Jacques: Try to uninstall the previous version of Amarok before adding the new one. Perhaps this can help.

To Stephan: use drakconf, this is the graphical tool to configure and install RPMs on Mandriva.

  4. I have now experienced the same installation issues as Jacques by trying to install both amarok and its dependancy file. I have carried out the instruction provided by kev and deleted amarok’s previous version ex DVD installation but there is no difference to the messages being received.

Has kev any more suggestions, please?… I am lost with my amarok operating!!!

    Regards

    Kimbo

  5. Try (as root):

    rpm -i --nodeps libamarok0-1.4.4-3mdv2007.0.i586.rpm

Then install the other package normally. The --nodeps option tells RPM not to look for dependencies. So only use it if you are sure you will brake nothing, like in this case.

    Hope this helps

  6. It’s easier that those solutions, just install both packages at the same time:

    rpm -U libamarok0-1.4.4-3mdv2007.0.i586.rpm amarok-1.4.4-3mdv2007.0.i586.rpm

  7. Before nodeps, there should be two “-”, not only one. Please correct.

To banana: WordPress changed your double dash (“--“) to a long one (“–”). To override this behaviour, I advise you to enclose your whole command within <code></code> html tags.

  8. Many thanks for the advice. I have, since my problem message, installed version 1.4.5. As it installed without any issues – I am so pleased.

I thoroughly enjoy amarok and all of its features. Please keep up the brilliant work and keep amarok #1.

I have taken a note of the way to handle RPM error messages – so thanks to Banana, YoaR and Kev.

    My regards to you all.
