New CD Jewel Case Template ready to Print !

cd-template-jewel-case-back-print-margin1 I’ve added two new documents to my CD Templates for Jewel Case in SVG. The new versions are a leaflet and a back cover with margin markers only. This version is designed for final printing: thanks to markers it’s easy to cut and fold the paper with high precision.

Amarok 1.4.4 for Mandriva 2007

amarok-1-4-41 Here is the ultimate version of Amarok ! The version 1.4.4 of Amarok was released today, and I’ve added it to my brand new Mandriva 2007 repository. As a bonus, this RPM support three database system to store audio collections: SQLite (default), MySQL and Postgresql.

I’ve noticed that MusicBrainz features are broken in the default Amarok 1.4.3 which come with Mandriva 2007. Unfortunately, those features are still broken in this release. Sorry.

CD Templates for Jewel Case in SVG

My friends, the Cool Cavemen band, are on the way to complete the sound recording phase of their next LP. Now come the time to think about the CD artwork, and to package the music they’ve choose the standard Jewel Case format.

Jewel Cases are made of a part which hold the CD itself. This part is usually black and opaque and it remain visible on the left of the front side when the CD case is closed.

Sometimes this black strip is made of transparent polystyrene, which let you see the reverse of the back cover. You can use this to make some easthetic design. So I’ve created some templates in Inkscape, because all templates I found on the web didn’t taken care of that transparent strip.

You can download those templates as SVG files under the Creative Commons Attribution licence. Here is the direct link to the SVG versions of the templates. Below are PNG versions for convenience :

Amarok 1.4.3 for Mandriva 2006 with MySQL support

Amarok 1.4.3 is out ! Here are the brand new packages for Mandriva 2006. This version of Amarok is a backport from the cooker repository and is built to work with KDE 3.4.2 (which is the default version that came with the free download edition of Mandriva 2006). I’ve also added in my repository all the missing depencies: TunePimp 0.4.2, libmtp and libofa0.

As requested by some peoples in my previous release, the MySQL support was missing. I’ve just added it for this 1.4.3 version. Please leave a comment to let me know if it work (or not), because I don’t use this feature myself.

As usual, take a look at previous release post and comments about Amarok if you experienced problems. There you will be able to get some tips.

Amarok 1.4.2 final for Mandriva 2006

Amarok 1.4.2 final is out and here are my RPMs for Mandriva 2006. To install them, I advise you to add my repository to your local urpmi database.

If you experience some problems with this package, take a look at comments on the 1.4.1 release and my “You installed Amarok from my RPMs and can’t play some files ? Here is the fix…” post.

You installed Amarok from my RPMs and can’t play some files ? Here is the fix…

My two previous RPMs packages of Amarok (1.4.1 and 1.4.2beta1) for Mandriva 2006 were not able to play some files because of their file format. In a previous comment, Promeneur tell us that my 1.4.1 package was not able to play Mpeg2 files.

I myself experienced a similar problem: both 1.4.1 and 1.4.2beta1 were not able to play any of my Flac files. Apart the “There is no audio channel!” error message, I had no other information to help me track the bug.

Then I remembered that I was using PFL RPMs beside official Mandriva ones. So I updated plf-non-free and plf-free repositories. So I installed all packages whose name followed the “xine-something-1.1.1” pattern. Just after that Amarok was playing Flac files as expected !
